The National Park Service requests proposals for providing museum archival and cataloging services. This notice is a follow-on to a sources sought notice published in the CBD on February 5, 1998. The RFP will be available on or about March 18, 1998. The services will be performed on-site at the Natchez Trace Parkway Headquarters, a unit of the National Park Service, located in Tupelo, MS. The services required include reviewing archival objects, writing a survey summary report, ordering supplies, processing materials for storage, listing objects which need conservation treatment, arranging the collections, describing the collections, creating and indexing folder lists, producing photo copies of some of the objects, creating finding aids, and cataloging the collection in accordance with NPS guidelines. The collection contains approximately 27 linear feet of historic correspondence files, 5 linear feet of original historical manuscripts/ephemera, approximately 500 photographs, and approximately 5500 drawings and maps. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with the National Park Service Museum Handbook and other appropriate Service Regulations. Firms submitting a proposal which fall within the competitive range will be asked to make an oral presentation. Contract award is anticipated in time for work to commence in early summer (1998); all work shall be concluded no later than December 31, 1998. The expected magnitude of this project is between $25,000 and $50,000. This solicitation is 100% set-aside for small business participation. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this Notice is 8733, "Noncommercial Research Organizations," with the size standard being $5.0 million per year.
