With the exception of computerization, all work shall be performed at George Washington Birthplace National Monument to prevent packing, shipping and possible loss or damage to artifacts. The archeology collection is estimated at 110,000 objects, including metal, ceramics, glass and organic materials. The material is from several different excavations dating from 1881 to 1977. Objects are currently stored inside 14 standard museum storage cabinets and within 31 boxes. Associated documentation is currently stored within boxes, file cabinets and map cases. (0238)
