707-6120. During 1996-1997, the Library of Congress is planning to
discontinue several products and services offered through its
Cataloging Distribution Services (CDS). As the Library withdraws from
the products and services listed below, it intends to provide customers
with the names of as many firms as possible who can provide the same or
similar services. The Library will convey to customers the firm's name
and address and other contact information. No advertising of any kind
will be conveyed. The Library will not endorse the firms listed but
will provide the specified information without evaluation. Firms
interested in being placed on the list should provide their company
name, contact person (optional), phone and fax numbers, mailing
address, e-mail address, (optional), Web address (optional), and the
specific name of the CDS product for which they wish to be considered
as an alternative source. The CDS product and services to be
discontinued are: * CDMARC product line wil cease publication at the
end of the 1996 subscription year. Titles are: CDMARC Bibliographic and
its subsets (English, English Current Years, Serials, Music, and
Spanish/Portuguese), and the authority-record products CDMARC Subjects
and CDMARC Names. The last issue of the 1996 subscription year (Issue
4, 1996 for the quarterly products) will be delivered to subscription
customers during the second quarter of 1997 and will continue to be
sold at the single issue price for as long as supplies last. No new
orders for full-year subscriptions or renewals will be accepted after
July 1996. * MARC card sets. No new orders will be accepted after
February 28, 1997. * Alert Service (MARC card-based current awareness
service). No new orders will be accepted after February 28, 1997. *
Select MARC Retrospective Conversion Service. No new orders will be
accepted after February 28, 1997. * MARC Diagnostic Service. No new
orders will be accepted after February 28, 1997. In support of its core
bibliographic mission and services, the Library of Congress's
Cataloging Distribution Service will retain its source-file MARC
Distribution Services, along with other print and electronic products
required by the Library. Responses and questions should be sent to:
