Product Service Code: J035 - Maint/repair/rebuild Of Equipment- Service and Trade Equipment NAICS Code: 811210 - Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance Place of Performance: Bethesda, MD POTS: 25-004966 Description: This is a notice of intent, not a request for a quotation. A solicitation document will not be issued, and quotations will not be requested. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a fixed price contract with a twelve (12) month base year to Fenwal Inc., 3 Corporate DR STE 300 Lake Zurich, Illinois 60047-8930, on a sole source basis to provide service maintenance to the Fenwal, Inc Amicus Maintenance Agreement currently located in the Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM), at the NIH Clinical Center (CC). Fenwal Inc does not certify third party organizations to perform service on its instrumentations in the United States. The service agreement is to provide annual and periodic preventative maintenance for six apheresis machines. The agreement covers maintenance and associated repair costs. These apheresis machines are used in that patients and/or donors are connected. It is hooked up to these instruments to perform extracorporeal therapy in which the blood of donors or patients is passed through the device to separate blood components, including collecting hematopoietic stem cell for transplant, leukapheresis, erythrocytopheresis, plasmapheresis, red cell and plasma for removal in the body. All of which of life preserving and life extending therapy for NIH patients. To maintain consistency of clinical testing for DTM, Fenwal Inc specialized engineers can provide the quality service required to maintain the instrument. The continuation of the Fenwal Inc preventive maintenance agreement is imperative to access parts and support in a timely manner. This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 � Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this posting. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
