- NATIONAL PARK SERVICE CHANNEL ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK, VENTURA, CALIFORNIA REROOFING OF FIVE HISTORIC BUILDINGS SOURCES SOUGHT 140P8421R0007 1. Introduction: THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY- This Source Sought is solely for information and planning, as a means for the government to conduct market research, identifying interested parties and their capability to support the requirements for the replacement of clay tile roofing for five historic buildings on Anacapa Island. Responses to this Sources Sought will be considered and will help the Government dictate a path forward. All business categories will be considered to include small and large businesses. 2. Place of Performance: Channel Islands National Park, Ventura, CA. 3. Disclaimer: This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract or otherwise pay for the information provided in response. An organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the organization's qualifications to perform the work. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. After a review of the responses received, a pre-solicitation synopsis and solicitation may be published online at the Federal Business Opportunities website at www.beta.sam.gov. Responses to this notice will not be considered adequate responses to a solicitation. 4. Contractor Capability: Provide all supervision, labor, materials, and equipment necessary to replace historic clay roofing on five buildings on Anacapa Island within Channel Islands National Park. Basic Description of Work: Removal and replacement of existing clay tile roofing at five (5) historic buildings at the Anacapa Light Station in the Anacapa Island Historic District on Anacapa Island at Channel Islands National Park. Reroofed structures shall be weather tight and shall match the original appearance of the buildings. Materials may be delivered to Anacapa wharf by boat or barge. Materials may be lifted from the boat to the wharf using the Government Lower Crane, which has a maximum capacity of 3,000 (three thousand) pounds. Materials may be lifted from the wharf to the topside of island with the Government�s Upper Crane, which has maximum capacity of 9,000 (nine thousand) pounds. Historic Nature of Work Site: Contractor shall note the historical significance of the site and buildings at which the Work will be performed. The Work of this contract will take place within a nationally designated Historic District. Due to the historic nature of the site and buildings, certain aspects of the Work may not be carried out with the materials and/or methods commonplace in the modern construction industry. It is incumbent upon the Contractor to furnish mechanics who can and will execute first-class workmanship in the materials and methods specified, and who will take the necessary precautions to protect the elements of the historic buildings and site not scheduled for Work under this contract; Cultural and Natural Resources, including the built structures, natural features of the landscape and subsurface archeological resources are present and shall be protected throughout the course of the Work. Work includes, but may not be limited to, the following: a) Removal and disposal of existing clay tile roofing completely including all existing underlayment, clay tiles, flashing and sheet metal; b) Removal and disposal of existing gutters and downspouts; c) Repair of existing wood roof framing and sheathing; d) Repair and painting of existing wood rafter tails; e) Installation of new underlayment; f) Installation of new clay tile roofing to match existing throughout; g) Installation of new copper flashing throughout and new copper gutters and downspouts at the Keepers Residence, General Service Building, Power House and Tank House; h) Work includes removal, salvage, reinstallation and flashing of all accessories and equipment currently installed on roofs; i) Stucco repair and painting as required to install new flashing. 5. Response to Sources Sought: Interested contractors must be currently registered (or be able to register prior to any future award) in the System for Award Management (SAM) at the official SAM website at www.beta.sam.gov (SAM registration is FREE - there is no cost to use SAM). Interested contractors able to perform the type of work detailed above are encouraged to PROVIDE THEIR COMPANY OR ENTITY NAME, ADDRESS, 9-DIGIT NUMERIC DUNS NUMBER, CONTACT INFORMATION (phone and email) FOR PRIMARY POINTS OF CONTACT, AND ANY RELEVANT INFORMATION DEMONSTRATING THEIR CAPABILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK to the NATIONAL PARK SERVICE.
