- Description
- The International Boundary Commission, United States and Canada (IBC), is mandated by treaty to maintain an effective boundary line between the two countries. This is accomplished in part, by keeping a 20-foot wide strip (vista), 10 feet in each country, clear of trees, brush and other obstructions and the boundary monuments in good repair. This is a vista-cutting project located yhrough 5 valleys along a rugged, remote segment of the Alaska/British Columbia boundary. This project is extremely difficult to access and will likely require helicopter support. The project follows the Alaska/British Columbia boundary between N 59 42 W 135 50 and N 59 28 W 136 25. The project is broken down into 5 zones beginning 0.75 miles northeast of Boundary Monument 126 and ending 1.80 miles northwest of Boundary Monument 149. The contractor shall clear 5 zones totaling 11.4 miles of the International Boundary Line vista between the United States (Alaska) and Canada (British Columbia). Note that the distance given is a horizontal distance and does not take into account peaks and valleys.
