- AMENDMENT-0001, Solicitation 36C78620Q0177 Port Hudson National Shrine Service Contractor Questions & GOV Responses 1. Due to COVID-19 pricing must be good for 120 days from date quote is submitted for this solicitation. The Q&A period has ended. 2. Section Q. Phasing and Work Sequencing of the Performance Work Statement, paragraph ii, dictates the headstone raise and realign work is done in conjunction with the grading and turf renovation. By doing the tasks in this order, the raise and realignment is occurring on new sod and there is great risk of damaging it. Is it acceptable to place the sod after the grading, headstone raise and realignment and then topsoil placement is complete if the headstones meet the 25 above topsoil level once the sodis installed? 2. GOV Response: Yes; see Section 32 92 00; after killing the turf, etc. the contractor can start the raise and realignment of the headstone and grade as required; when all the headstones are properly placed, and earth work is done and prep then he can place and reestablished turf. 3. What is the cost to replace a headstone if one is damaged during the project? 3. GOV Response: Replacement cost for a normal upright marble headstone is $372.24. 4. What is the desired spacing between the headstones? 4. GOV Response: These sections are 3x8s; headstones are placed at 36 inches in a row and at 92 inches between rows; also will need to maintain the alignments of the rows, columns and transverse directions in accordance with the Scope of Work, Specifications, Attachments and Exhibits. 5. Section 10 80 00, 1.3.1.a indicates a licensed surveyor shall validate and/or relocate any existing permanent control markers. At the site survey, we noticed three survey markers, two for Section N and one for Section O. a. Are these the permanent control markers? b. Are any more required? If so, do we supply them? c. What are the specifications for installing them? 5. GOV Response: Control markers are surveying points permanent place in the ground and they are controllers/references to ensure the accuracy of the placement of the monuments within that segment or section. These markers are also known as: Monument marker, gravesite control points and/or Grid monument. The contractor is required prior to starting work in any burial section, find the location of the existing permanent gravesite control markers and the required gravesite row/gravesite spacing layout dimensions and shall be verified and certified by a licensed surveyor and coordinated with the COR. No new permanent control markers are required. See reference information on Section 10 80 00 paragraphs 1.3.1 and 1.3.2. Not applicable; no new permanent control markers are required.
