- PROJECT DESCRIPTION. A. This project involves the following work: PROJECT SITE 1: SALT LAKE BAY 1.) Remove and replace 1080 square feet of float decking material at the Salt Lake Bay Float Plane Dock Facility. Work included in contract item will include the following: i. Removal and disposal of the existing 2"x12" decking material. ii. Removal and disposal of the existing 6"x6" bull rail and blocking material. iii. Installation of proposed 2"x12" Alaska Yellow Cedar decking material. iv. Installation of proposed 6"x6" Alaska Yellow Cedar bull rail and blocking material. 2.) Repair the damaged existing substructure glulam framing joist at the Salt Lake Bay Float Plane Dock Facility. Work included in contract item will include the following: i. Removal and disposal of approximately 7' of the existing damaged 3-1/8"x6" glulam framing joist. ii. Installation of (2) 7'-9" lengths of 6"x6" Alaska Yellow Cedar repair blocking 3.) Complete the structural upgrade of existing damaged float ramp guide angle assembly at the Salt Lake Bay Float Plane Dock Facility. Work included in contract item will include the following: i. Removal and disposal of all entities of the existing guide angle assembly. ii. Fabrication and installation of the upgraded guide angle assembly. 4.) Upgrade of the existing float mooring conditions at the Salt Lake Bay Float Plane Dock Facility. i. Installation of mooring cleats. ii. Installation of tire bumpers. 5.) Mobilization of Equipment and crew necessary to complete all contract requirements (includes demobilization and transfer between sites). PROJECT SITE 2 6.) Stabilization of the load bearing embankment material that supports the approach gangway footing at the Corner Bay Float Plane Dock Facility. Specific work contained within the project scope will include, but is not limited to, the following: i. Partial disassembly of the existing timber approach gangway for substructure access. ii. Removal and stockpiling of existing concrete footing. iii. Excavation and stockpiling of existing embankment riprap and borrow material. iv. Embankment construction and stabilization. v. Placement of geotextile fabric. vi. Minor Structural Backfill vii. Proper re-installation of concrete footing and timber gangway material. OPTIONAL ITEM: 7.) Perform all work and furnish all materials necessary to properly complete the removal and replacement of 1080 square feet of float decking material and the 8 Fathom Bight Float Plane Dock Facility. Work included in contract item will include the following: i. Removal and disposal of the existing 2"x12" decking material. ii. Removal and disposal of the existing 6"x6" bull rail and blocking material. iii. Installation of proposed 2"x12" Alaska Yellow Cedar decking material. iv. Installation of proposed 6"x6" Alaska Yellow Cedar bull rail and blocking material. OBTAINING A SOLICITATION. Prospective bidders are expected to obtain the solicitation from the Internet. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 5.2-Synopses of Proposed Contract Actions, Paragraph 5.202 Exceptions, Subparagraph (13) a synopsis will not be issued. This proposed contract action meets the criteria in that: 1. The amount is not expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. 2. - Address: Project Site 1: The proposed work is located at the Salt Lake Bay Float Plane Dock on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska. Salt Lake Bay lies on the Southwest end of Port Frederick and is approximately 12 air miles Southwest of Hoonah, Alaska and 50 air miles Southwest of Juneau, Alaska. The project site is not accessible by land from any community and can be accessed by marine or air transport only. There are no housing or facilities available at Salt Lake Bay. Hoonah is serviced by both the Alaska Marine Highway and commercial marine transport barge lines. The project site is on National Forest Service Road 8579 MP 0.00 at the Salt Lake Bay Marine Access Facility (MAF). The MAF consists of two separate structures. The float plane dock, in which project work consists of, lies on the east side of the bay and can be used for small boat/aircraft moorage. Also located near the float plane dock is a log bulkhead barge facility that can be used for general marine-to-land equipment loading/offloading., Project Site 2: The proposed work is located at the Corner Bay Float Plane Dock on Chichagof Island. The dock can be accessed by either marine or air traffic only and is approximately 50 air miles North of Sitka, Alaska. The project site is on National Forest Service Road 7551 MP 0.00 at the Corner Bay Marine Access Facility. The Corner Bay Marine Access Facilities consist of two separate structures. A float plane dock lies on the west side of the cove and can be used for small boat/aircraft moorage. Also located near the float plane dock is a gravel equipment ramp that can be used for general marine-to-land equipment loading/offloading. There is no housing or facilities available at Corner Bay and the road system is no connected to any community by land., Additive Option Item 1 Location: The work is located at the Eight Fathom Bight Float Plane Dock on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska. Eight Fathom Bight lies on the Northwest end of Port Frederick and is approximately 4 miles from the Salt Lake Bay project location described above. The project site is not accessible by land from any community and can be accessed by marine or air transport only. There are no housing or facilities available at Eight Fathom Bight., Alaska, United States
