70-3D Scanning Technology for Remote Weapon StationSynopsis: 3D Scanning Technology for Remote Weapon StationSources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) Announcement This Sources Sought Notice is a Request for Information (RFI) ONLY and shouldnot be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a commitment by the U.S. Government. The JM&L LCMC Contracting Center, in support of the Project Manager Crew Served Weapons, is seeking information from organizations that possess mature 3D scanning technology. Specifically, the US Army is interested in a mature capability which will output specific azimuth (0 degrees to 360 degrees) and elevation (40 degrees to +80 degrees from horizontal) coordinates of objects detected. The objects in the profile scan will be statically mounted. The detected objects will be comprised of, but not limited to: metals, hard polymers, concrete, wood and composites. The optimal laser detection range shall be from 0m to 15m. The desire is to affix the 3D scanner on an existing mount or contractor furnished mount capable of rotating and elevating to the values listed above and capturing data points of objects in range. These data points shall be compiled into an exportable text file. Vendor Questionnaire: The purpose of this questionnaire is to obtain information from industry to assist in the market research. Firms/companies are invited to indicate their interest and capability to satisfy the above requirements by identifying the following items: 1. Company Name2. This data should be sent, if available, at no cost or obligation to the U.S. Government, by 3 February 2011 to Department of the Army, JM&L LCMC Contracting Center.
