- Description
- The US Army Medical Research and Materiel Commands Telemedicine & Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) Medical Simulation Team (MedSim)is hosting an Industry Day on behalf of the DOD Armed Forces Simulation Institute for Medicine (AFSIM). This Industry Day will be held in conjunction with the Annual Medicine Meets Virtual Reality MMVR 18/NextMed Conference in Newport Beach, California on Tuesday February 8, 2011. Are you concerned about the need to improve patient safety and improving the delivery of healthcare? Have you considered the potential impact that improvements in education and training might have? Are you interested in the future strategic plan(s) for Medical Simulation for Training? Might you wish to learn how to do business with the government regarding simulation, education and training? Would you like to learn more about the AFSIMs investment plans? If Yes, then join for face-to-face dialogue with government, academic and industry colleagues who may also be interested. It will be held 8 February 2011, 2 days prior to the start of the MMVR18/NextMed conference at the Newport Beach Marriott in Newport Beach, California. So what is AFSIM? The AFSIM committee was formed to 1) provide relevant information to the Joint Program Committee 1 Medical Simulation, Education, & Training for Systems Development and Integration (JPC1-MedSim) about medical simulation, education, and training technologies / systems and 2) integrate efforts that began with the Combat Casualty Training Consortium Research and Development (R&D), as identified in Program Announcement (PA) W81XWH-10-JPC-MedSim-CCTC), as well as actual / potential future related R&D efforts. Examples of DoD broad areas of interest are technologies / systems related to medical practice, patient care, and development of tools for medical education. The government may (or may not) choose to issue Requests for Information (RFI) or Program Announcements (PA) related to these areas. The AFSIM committee is facilitated by the TATRC MedSim team. For more information on the Industry Day Program, please visit the MMVR conference site at: http://www.nextmed.com/tatrc_program.html An advance, on line registration is required for this one day event.
