- Description
- The Naval Medical Logistics Command intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.5) with the Alter-G Incorporated, 1090 O’Brian Drive, Menlo Park, California 94025, as the one responsible source that can provide a G-Trainer Pro. Specifically, this machine shall utilize an unweighting system for people who have been injured, post surgery, or for general conditioning. It shall eliminate at least 80% (controlled in at most 1% increments) of body weight from a person’s workload when in use. The treadmill shall be able to go at least 10 miles per hour (mph) in the forward direction and 5 mph backwards and shall be able to incline and decline at least 15%. The machine shall have a touch screen to control set weight, speed, and incline. The treadmill shall have the option of saving these settings. This treadmill shall use air pressure technology that would allow the patient a full range of unimpeded motion and not limit natural gait. There shall not be any liquid components. The electrical requirements are 220VAC, 60Hz. G-Trainer is the only treadmill out on the market that uses Alter-G’s proprietary air pressure based technology. The air-based system applies support in a way that more complicated systems cannot. Unweighting treadmills based on this technology are the only acceptable treadmills that meet the Government’s requirements. Specifically, the contractor shall provide: - G-Trainer Pro Small (Quantity 1) - G-Trainer Shorts Xtra Small (Quantity 2) - G-Trainer Shorts Small (Quantity 3) - G-Trainer Shorts Medium (Quantity 3) - G-Trainer Shorts Large (Quantity 4) - G-Trainer Shorts Xtra Large (Quantity 2) - G-Trainer Shorts Xxtra Large (Quantity 2) This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures (IAW FAR 13.5). There are no set-aside restrictions for this requirement. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 339920 with a Small Business Size Standard of 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document exists for this requirement. However, parties interested in responding to this notice will need to submit technical data sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product. All capability statements received within 15 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Capability statements shall be submitted by email only as a MS Word or Adobe PDF attachment to Shannon Lertora at shannon.lertora@med.navy.mil. Statements are due by 03:00 PM Eastern Time on 18 March 2009. No phone calls accepted.
