Description
DARPA will host a Proposers? Day Workshop in support of the BAA06-45 Sandblaster Program on August 23, 2006 at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., 3811 Fairfax Drive, Suite 600, Arlington, Virginia from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The purpose of this conference is to provide information on the Sandblaster Program; promote additional discussion on this topic; address questions from potential proposers; and provide a forum for potential proposers to present their capabilities for teaming opportunities. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION: The objective of the Sandblaster Program is to enable rotary wing aircraft to land safely in brown-out conditions with a minimum of pilot and/or crew compensation. The desired system will include necessary sensors, instruments and pilot displays, and at a minimum, provide zero-visibility brownout landing capability with warning of lateral fore and aft drift, of ground obstacles and sloping/uneven terrain in the landing zone that could induce dynamic roll-over, and of potential collisions with other nearby aircraft and building structures. Landing guidance will come from conventional/modified instrumentation and pilot displays, new human-factored, cognitive Primary Functional Displays, or combinations of both. The desired system must be able to be developed quickly on a rapid success-oriented schedule. The desired system must be affordable in volume production. It is highly desirable that methods for incorporating the Sandblaster capability into legacy UH-60M, UH-60A, and UH-60L models, and other legacy military helicopters, be identified. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Participants must register NLT August 18, 2006 at the following website: https://enstg.com/signup/passthru.cfm?ConferenceCode=SAN68226. Directions to the facility and other materials are also available on the website. There is no registration fee for attending this conference. Due to space limitations of the conference facility, attendance will be limited to the first 100 registrants, and no more than 2 representatives per organization. NOTE: It is highly recommended that all potential proposers attend the Conference, in order to respond to this BAA. Certain sensitive technical information about US military helicopter performance will only be provided at the Conference, and in a Supplemental Information Package (Distribution Notice Code X: Distribution authorized to US Government Agencies and private individuals or enterprises eligible to obtain export-controlled technical data in accordance with DoD Directive 5230.25,) Conference attendees must show eligibility to obtain such data. The Proposers' Day conference will be unclassified and will be open to qualified, registered, and approved attendees only. All attendees will be required to present government issued photo identification upon entry to the event. Additionally, all US Citizens are required to submit a US Citizenship Verification form in order to attend this conference. The completed Citizenship Form must be faxed to (Attention: Pamela Jackson) at 703-696-9781 no later than August 18, 2006. This form is available for download at the registration website. NOTE: DO NOT CONTACT THE CONTRACTING OFFICER IDENTIFIED BELOW WITH RESPECT TO THIS PROPOSER'S DAY ANNOUNCEMENT. ADDRESS ALL INQUIRIES AS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED HEREIN.
