- Description
- Georgetown University (GU), under Grant from the Federal Transit Administration, plans to develop a next-generation liquid-fueled (methanol) Fuel Cell transit bus aimed toward a 30/40-foot transit bus configured in a series-hybrid configuration. In Phase I, GU will contract for the design and development of a >50 kW net methanol Fuel Cell power plant which could serve as the baseline for the next Fuel Cell transit bus. This capacity would achieve the overall necessary power level to electrically couple two such power plants into a 30-foot Fuel Cell powered transit bus. The intent is to have at least 100 kW of Fuel Cell power for the vehicle. A responsive, efficient fuel processor to convert the methanol fuel with output fuel quality adequate for Fuel Cell power plant operation will be key to mitigating energy storage requirements. This will be a selected source procurement. Only vendors who have demonstrated large (>50 kW) Fuel Cell system development and methanol fuel processing capability will be considered. A competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) should be available by the end of January 2005. The estimated Period of Performance for the work to be performed in Phase I is two (2) years. No solicitation exists at this time; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet the above requirement should submit an Email response capability statement of two (2) pages or less to the GU Program Manager indicating the ability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by GU nor will GU pay for information solicited. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. All responses shall be submitted by Email to the GU Program Manager, James T. Larkins no later than January 31, 2005. Point of Contact: James T. Larkins, Program Manager, Phone (202) 687-7361, Fax (202) 687-4507, Email larkinsj@georgetown.edu.
