- Description
- The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) intends to field an assault load carrier (ALC) chest/vest system based upon known efficiencies, proven technologies and direct Marine input in order to maximize the mobility and survivability of the individual Marine. The Marine Corps is looking for a system or design which is readily producible, simple, functional, durable and lightweight. System designs should be compatible with the Improved Load Bearing Equipment (ILBE) pack systems proposed by ILBE candidates Bianchi International (POC: Lacy Causey (909) 676-5621, hlcausey@aol.com) and Propper International (POC: Tom Kellim (636) 685-1034, tomk@propper.com), and should provide Marines with quantifiable improvements in overall system capabilities when compared to the Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment (MOLLE) Fighting Load Carrier. The Marine Corps intends to issue a request for commercial offerings (RCO) utilizing FAR Part l2 for commercial items in approximately 15 days. The requirement will be for approximately 100 test units and production options consisting of approximately 200,000 base systems, 143,000 rifleman subcomponents, 9,000 grenadier subcomponents, 9,000 SAW Gunner subcomponents and 70,000 pistol bearer subcomponents over a 5 year period. The RCO will be posted at http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/sites/ctq/opport.asp. This requirement is subject to the Berry Amendment (10 USC 2533 a) and the NAICS code is 314911.
